My philosophy
Midwifery Continuity of Care is the gold standard of midwifery care. All the evidence shows that having a known midwife leads to improved satisfaction in care and better outcomes for mothers and babies. As an Endorsed Privately Practicing Midwife (EPPM) in Perth I offer continuity of midwifery care. Women are designed to birth babies. I believe in physiological labour and birth and trust completely in the birthing process. I believe that it doesn’t matter how or where a woman gives birth but that she feels empowered, supported and listened to throughout the process, being able to make fully informed decisions. Women have the right to informed choice.
When naming my business, I originally wanted to incorporate the concept of a journey. During pregnancy there is so much focus on the birth or around birth but I believe the whole journey is so important. For some it is a long journey to conceive a baby. Pregnancy is a journey, there can be many different paths and forks in the road with so much to learn along to way. Labour and birth is a journey, and each experience is different, some planned, some with unexpected challenges. The transition to parenthood more an expedition than a journey with a very steep learning curve and so many ups and downs. As a private midwife I would be there to help nurture this journey and support you along the way. To be there to support not only the birth of your baby but the birth of your new family.
